Think about Kist's characteristics and post your own list of 5-8 characteristics of a 21st century school library, based on your current understandings.

Thinking about Kist’s characteristics, 5-8 characteristics of a 21st century library, based on my current understanding are:
-      Hooking up too author websites and other websites like NFB, CBC, PBS for daily work discussions.
-      Creating and maintaining a blog site where the library can share ideas and thoughts about books.
-      On the blog post ideas or questions or images for students to practice critical thinking.
-      Collaborate with students and classroom teachers to compliment and enrich the classroom learning.
-      Create awareness for the e-resources available throughout our district, such as World Book online, Culture Gems and local newspapers.
-      Create awareness of plagiarism and the need/use of a bibliography.
This is where I am at.  Pretty basic.  As far as gaming goes I am not in the know here.  I might think of Mathletics as “gaming.   I like this kind of internet use as students can challenge themselves and see who is playing around the world.

Blog # 1 - Explore photo sharing sites - such as Flicker or Picasso (or others)
It seems to me that while Flickr contends to be “almost certainly”(??) the best place for showing your pictures, it looks too big.  I wonder about the incidence of sharing too much?  I tried Picasa too and found it easy.  I liked the collage feature and had fun arranging my pictures.  Putting comments on the pictures and more blog style seems to be the Flickr thing.  At least that is what I found exploring.  I guess my thinking is, for school, I like sharing but not with the world.  And, if I want to blog about the picture or share just the pic then I will use my blogsite.
Went to the tags for Flicker (tags are a key thing with Flickr for sharing and the more tags the better for sharing) and enjoyed it.  Some nudity but the tags placed there were good.  Still the blog type sharing discourages me. I might use Flickr for going to and showing my students the images under ”tags” but I don’t know if this would be my choice for assembling our picture.  Picaso works better for me at sharing in a smaller setting.
I am just not ready to share images of kids in the world setting.  Too many kids are no photo kids at my schools too.
